A Year of Progress: studioNWA End-of-Year Review 2023 20 Dec 2023

It has been a transformative year at studioNWA, we wanted to reflect on some of the milestones and accomplishments that have defined 2023.

Project Work – Data Centre Milestones

In the past year, we’ve excelled even further in our Data Centre project work. In 2023, studioNWA have provided architectural services for data centres in 21 locations across the UK and Europe, amounting to 381,057 sqm of IT area/ 828 MW IT across RIBA Stages 1 to 7. These advancements help us to further understand the rapidly evolving landscape of data centres, allowing us to stay at the forefront of the sector.

Sustainable Research – Putting it Into Practice

Our dedication to sustainable practices took a significant leap forward in the past year. We actively implemented sustainable initiatives across various projects. From carbon saving designs in our data centres to eco-friendly office practices, we have strived to minimise our environmental footprint while maximising efficiency.

Rebrand/Development

In line with our commitment to constantly develop, we underwent a strategic rebrand earlier this year to become studioNWA. The aim was to refresh and simplify our brand identity, aligning it with our evolving vision for the future. The successful execution of this initiative modernised our image, website and social media platforms.

Pushing Knowledge/Learning/Networking

Throughout the year we have prioritised networking, CPDs, panel discussions, workshops, webinars, and collaborative projects. We continue to encourage learning for growth. At studioNWA, we firmly believe education and continuous learning is crucial to our progress both personally and professionally.

Charity – Giving Back

Our commitment to social responsibility took shape through various charitable initiatives. We are proud to have supported several impactful charities throughout the year, including Mind Charity, Amy Robinson Foundation, Demelza, Great Osmond Street Hospital, Samaritans, and Crisis. Each cause was carefully chosen to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need.

Growth

Throughout the year, we’ve experienced significant growth. We’ve forged new partnerships to broaden our client portfolios and successfully completed feasibility studies for numerous clients in 25 locations across the UK and 10 cities in Europe. To support this expansion, we’ve welcomed new members to our growing team, ensuring the continuation of our commitment to delivering excellent service.

Carbon Journey Continued

Our journey to carbon neutral is ongoing. This year we mitigated the carbon emissions from a growing team’s commute to the office with an effective hybrid or remote set up, depending on project needs. We also signed up for the Electric Car Scheme to ease the transition to EVs and further decarbonisation goals.

In conclusion, the past year has been one of growth, innovation, and development. As we navigate the evolving landscape of data centres, we remain committed to pushing boundaries and look forward to the challenges and opportunities that next year brings.
