studioNWA’s journey to carbon neutral 8 Feb 2023
At studioNWA Architects we monitor Scope 1 emissions (space heating and employees’ commute) and Scope 2 emissions (electricity).
- 50% of studioNWA’s operational emissions are derived from staff commute, due to the rural location, we need our cars to get there. We continue to implement the hybrid work mode, resulting in a 51% reduction of CO2 emissions and 45,648 less miles travelled last year.
- 40% of emissions resulting from electricity use. We have also switched our electricity supply to a 100% renewable mix, slashing our emissions in this category to zero.
- We have adjusted the thermostat and keep up with maintenance of underfloor heating system for optimal performance. We have seen a 30% reduction of emissions in 2022
- Our success story – We have managed to reduce our Scope 1 & 2 operational CO2 emissions to 14 tonnes in 2022 – A 62% reduction when compared to our 2019 baseline year, pre-Covid.
